Hosted trips for travel bloggers and website owners

Explera hosts travel bloggers in Thailand, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand, providing hotel, transfers and activities on the ground in exchange for honest, disclosed posts on your own site and social channels. Every applicant must own a blog or website. Explera pays no fees and never provides flights, visas or travel insurance.

Can travel bloggers get hosted trips?

Yes. Travel bloggers can apply to be hosted by Explera in Thailand, Japan, South Korea or New Zealand. Your website is the centre of the collaboration: you publish a long-form post in your own voice, with social posts around it. It is hospitality in exchange for disclosed coverage, not a paid placement; see travel influencer collaborations.

Do I need my own blog or website?

Yes. Every applicant must own a blog or website, whatever their main platform and whichever tier they apply for. You give its address on the application, and reviewers confirm it is live and belongs to you, for example by asking you to add an ownership code shown in your portal for a few days.

Do I need a minimum number of followers or readers?

Hosted tiers start at a follower threshold on your primary channel, set out on the programme page, and an equivalent blog audience can count as that channel. Below the threshold, the Spotlight tier is considered case by case and normally covers one activity or tour, with no hotel. Reviewers look at real readership and audience geography as well as size.

What do I have to post?

You publish a pre-trip announcement before you travel and a blog post after the trip, each with social posts tagging @expleradmc, as your agreement sets out. In order:

  1. Pre-trip announcement, after approval and before travel: a social post tagging @expleradmc and a blog post on your site linking to the agreed Explera page. Both are verified before the trip moves to travelling.
  2. Post-trip blog post with a do-follow link to the agreed Explera page, published within the window on the deliverables page.
  3. Post-trip social posts @mentioning @expleradmc on Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube or Threads.

What kind of blog post works best?

A useful, specific guide works best: the post a reader would bookmark before booking. Write what you did, what it cost you, how you got there and what you would change. Explera never scripts or pre-approves your text, and you choose the angle and the keywords.

  • Answer the questions people search for in clear subheadings: when to go, how long to stay, what to wear, how to get around.
  • Use your own photos with descriptive alt text, and note the season you travelled in.
  • Keep practical facts current; we may ask for a factual correction to a price or a safety detail.

Do I have to link to Explera?

Yes. Your pre-trip and post-trip blog posts link to the agreed Explera page, and the post-trip link is do-follow. Automatic checks confirm the link where the page is public, and your screenshot is kept as the record because pages can change later.

How do I disclose a hosted trip on my blog?

Say at the top of the post, before the first link, that the trip was hosted by Explera and what was provided. A note in the footer is not enough. The rules follow your readers' market, not the destination's, and your agreement gives the exact wording.

How do I apply?

Apply through the application form with your website, your social channels and your preferred destination and dates. The destinations overview compares the four countries if you have not chosen one yet.
